My mum has just adopted a little three year old border terrier called Milly, she’s a very cute thing but very very timid. She had been rescued by a family after they found her abandoned, the vets said she had given birth to puppies and then dumped. Milly was with this family for 2 years and then re-homed as they felt she wasn’t happy there. My mum is very calm and patient and she is getting better, but I think she has postnatal depression. Is that ridiculous? If Milly had another litter and kept one, would that make her feel better? Any advise is really welcome, thanks. Samx

poor thing not a very good life so far then being dumped after giving birth, i think it is possible for her to get postnatal depression, not sure if her having another litter would help though, would be best to maybe take her to a vet to find out..

Hi,
When pets experience a sudden change, it upsets the balance in their lives, just as it does in ours. The loss of another dog or of a beloved human can be a large emotional hurdle for a dog. Experiencing a trauma, such as an injury or an attack by another dog, can also be a trigger. What your dog needs is love and affection.
